Meet Dr. Bethany Fitzgerald

I first came to Vermont for undergraduate studies at Middlebury College in 1991 and knew that I would want to make this beautiful place my home. After earning Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies, I moved to North Carolina to complete my post-graduate studies. I had decided after a rotation in Bristol, Vermont that dentistry would be the perfect career to combine my love of sciences with my interest in visual arts.

I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001. During this time, I was able to gain additional experience with internships at the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. A highlight of my dental education was a two-week trip to Mexico where, with a group of students, I provided dentistry to children at the Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos Orphanage in Miacatlan.

I continued to build on my educational experience through a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at the former Fletcher Allen Healthcare, now known as the University of Vermont Medical Center here in Burlington. Excited to be back in Vermont, I worked closely with oral surgeons and other specialists caring for orofacial trauma and hospital in-patients, as well as performing general dentistry at the Community Health Center. During that time, I met my husband, a Vermont native, and settled into life in Chittenden County.

Joining Milton Family Dentistry in 2002, I was welcomed by a great team of supportive staff and a warm family of patients. I have grown to know my patients and their families over the years and can't imagine working anywhere else. Everyone has their own interesting story and I feel fortunate to spend time with patients and connect while delivering dentistry in a caring environment.

When not at work, I am usually carting around my two daughters to their extracurricular activities, volunteering in their school, and trying to find some time in there for my own art. My family loves to travel but we also enjoy the beauty of Vermont in our own backyard!
